Faculty Bio

Mary Elisabeth Hirsh received her Bachelor's of Music in Music Therapy from Appalachian State University, where she studied voice with Randall Outland. Prior to that Mary Elisabeth studied with Catherine Alderman in Durham and swears she has been singing since the age of two! She has been performing on stage since age 9 and is an active member of the Durham Savoyards Ltd. with whom she recently sang the leading role in "The Pirates of Penzance". Mary Elisabeth has a strong background working with younger children and also brings with her additional knowledge from her music therapy training. She is very excited to share her love of music and singing with everyone and wishes to encourage aspiring and even seasoned singers to grow and evolve. Mary Elisabeth is very happy to be joining the Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts staff and looks forward to teaching here.
