Drums are often the key to experiencing that toe-tapping, body-swaying element we all sense and feel when we hear music. Learning to play the drums is a wonderful and challenging endeavor. Looking at an entire drum kit may seem a bit intimidating, but don’t worry. Our instructor will help you start with the basics and work up from there. You don’t even need to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Thanks to today’s technology, beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks or with a digital drum kit and the noise can be turned down for family-friendly practice. Students use a full drum kit during their lessons at our studio.
Our instructor teaches many styles of music and shows his students playing techniques that are most commonly used today. In the lesson, emphasis is placed on technique, creativity, timing, phrasing, dynamics, ear training, sight reading and composing. Focus is also placed on learning the role of the musician within a group setting.
The drums play a huge role in the music we listen to today. From rock, to jazz, to hip-hop, the drum set has become an indispensable musical element in our culture. With the advent of modern electronic drum sets, more and more people are discovering the fun of taking drum lessons.
