Our program provides 5 weeks of meaningful training and rehearsal resulting in a professionally produced musical. We are proud to announce GODSPELL as our 2018 production. This classic musical calls for 12 actors, each with significant lines and vocal solos. Truly an ensemble piece, this production is a production where each actor has a vital and significant part to play and will be active in nearly every rehearsal.
Summer Musical Theatre Intensive students will also receive:
– Ensemble physical theatre classes with director Melissa Dombrowski
– Private voice lessons with master teacher Sharon Szymanski
– (3) 20 minutes sessions with a personal acting coach selected from TAP’s professional faculty.

Q. Can a student be enrolled in regular TAP classes and this intensive?
A. Yes! Our scheduling is carefully managed to avoid conflicts.
Q. I am a company member of TAP. Do I have to audition to be cast in the Summer Musical Theatre Intensive?
A. Yes. While you are guaranteed a significant role in any work mounted by your TAP class, SMTI is a special intensive outside of our weekly training. All auditioning students will be considered equally based on the strength of this particular audition.
Q. I have some conflicts during the rehearsal schedule. Can I still participate?
A. Please list these out fully on your audition sheet. We will only be able to accommodate a limited number of conflicts. Your identifying conflicts will not remove you from consideration for a role; it just indicates the need for discussion.
Q. Can you accommodate missing a week or so of rehearsal due to previous commitments?
A. Unfortunately we cannot. This is an ensemble cast, and so nearly every cast member is needed at every rehearsal. We cannot ask the cast to do their work and then do that work over again because an actor was over-scheduled. We are doing our best to cast early and so assist with summer planning. We also hold auditions after Playmakers Rep has completed casting their summer production in order to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Q. How do I schedule an audition?
A. Click here to fill out your audition form online. Alternately, you can fill the form in person at the CHSMA reception desk.
