Weekly Technique Classes (TAP Enrollment)

High School Acting:  $150/month tuition
Tuesdays 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM*
Fall Unit Schedule, 2017:
Technique Classes:  September 12, 19, 26  October 3, 10, 17, 24   November  1, 7, 14, 28  December 5, 12
This unit will require students to attend additional rehearsals outside of class time.  Students will be asked for their conflicts on September 12th before the rehearsal schedule is finalized.
Performance for “All in the Timing”: December 15th, 16th and 17th

Seminars

Seminar:  Introduction to Stage Combat
Date/Time: Saturdays, October 7th and 14th (2:00 – 5:00 PM)/6 hrs
Fee: $200/$100 for TAP students
Instructor: Ryan Gentry
For students age 13+ (younger students only with instructor permission).  This is a physical seminar that requires students to focus on practicing new skills and working with others safely.  It is not suitable for young children or students who have difficulty with following directions.

Students will spend two exciting afternoons learning the fundamentals of hand-to-hand stage combat technique and choreography.

Ryan is a certified stage combat instructor and has been trained in all 8 combat weapon disciplines with the Society of American Fight Directors (rapier/dagger, single sword, broadsword, sword & shield, smallsword, knife, quarterstaff, unarmed) and has spent the past 10 years performing, teaching and choreographing.  He loves to spread the art and bring the principles of safety and partnering to more and more artists.   Ryan currently teaches theatre at Orange High School in Hillsborough.

Workshops

Workshop:  The Business of “The Business”

Instructor: Jennifer Shrader Williams 

There is a lot of effort that goes into getting work as an actor! Jennifer Shrader Williams helps demystify the work that goes into building and managing a career in professional theatre.  Bring your questions about auditions, agents, actor’s unions, self-promotion, follow-up and best practices!

Jennifer’s extensive resume of musical theater roles includes the coveted part of Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” on Broadway, made her Broadway debut as principal vocalist in the musical “Swing”. Her national tour credits include roles in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Sunset Boulevard” and “Annie” and “Beauty and the Beast” among others.  She currently teaches at CHSMA as a private acting coach.
