Trev Wignall Joins CHSMA’s Violin Faculty

A true product of Chapel Hill, Trev studied Suzuki and classical violin from an early age. He attended Chapel Hill High School then transferred to NC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, where he honed his classical training. After graduation from NCSA he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where he expanded his musical scope to include jazz, rock, and other contemporary genres. He graduated from Berklee with a BA in Electronic Music Production and Design.

Having attended the select Governor’s School program while in high school, Trev returned each summer while in college and after graduation to teach privately and to work with the gifted high school attendees. He also began private violin instruction in Chapel Hill and has served as a strings clinician at local NC middle and high school orchestra programs.

Trev brings a unique set of skills and talents to his teaching with CHSMA. He is very comfortable with Suzuki and traditional teaching for violin and viola, and also offers specialized instruction in fiddling and in electric stringed instruments. A frequent performer and recording artist, he is a creative and adaptable teacher who will be able to broaden the scope of our strings instruction and appeal to many different ages and sorts of students. He teaches with the desire to share new and different musical ideas with his students in a way that was unavailable to him as he grew up and we are glad to add him to our diverse faculty.
