Cassandra Hanson is a freelance clarinetist centered in Durham, NC. A native of Blacksburg, VA, Ms. Hanson earned a BA in Clarinet Performance from Virginia Tech in 2018 and an MM in Clarinet Performance from the University of South Carolina in 2020. She has performed with the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble, the University of South Carolina Wind Ensemble, the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra, and the Long Bay Symphony, as well as in several chamber groups. Ms. Hanson enjoys performing new music, having premiered new clarinet works by Michael Mills, Graeme Rosner, and other composers. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda. Her primary teachers include Joseph Eller, Dr. Phillip O. Paglialonga, and Dr. Jonathan Caldwell.
