Faculty Bio

DeAndrea Hargett is an experienced teacher, singer and voice instructor. DeAndrea graduated from University of North Carolina at Pembroke receiving a Bachelor's of Arts degree in music, with a concentration in classical voice, and a minor in studio art. During her undergraduate career she performed solos with the Pembroke Singers on their Mexico City tour in 2018 and was the winner of UNC-Pembroke Annual Concerto Competition in 2017. She has made appearances in local musical theater productions, DeAndrea has won numerous beauty pageant titles from “Little Miss Ham & Yam” to “Miss Clayton High School” to the most recent 2018-2019 Miss Black and Gold for the Tau Nu chapter of UNC Pembroke. After resigning from a year as the head of the music and theater department at a public academy to focus on her music studies, DeAndrea is now a full time graduate student obtaining a master’s degree in ethnomusicology. In addition to her primary job functions, DeAndrea has been recognized to sing at Brownson Memorial Presbytrian Church as the soprano section leader, she is also a freelance musician performing for weddings and festivals alike. DeAndrea takes pride in her private lessons which allows her to share her gift of music in more than one way. When free time is in her grasp, she loves to go to various places to explore nature, practice her ukulele and yoga routines.
