Chapel Hill School of MAGICAL Arts – Musical Halloween Party
October 29, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
For one day only, CHSMA becomes Chapel Hill School of Magical Arts! This year we’re throwing a party fit for Harry Potter and his friends. Costumes and goodies? Yes! An afternoon of magical, musical fun? We’ve got you covered.
Students arriving at Chapel Hill School of Magical Arts will receive their admission letter, supply list, and an allowance of gold coins. Then they’re off to Diatonic Alley to purchase their conductor’s wand and be sorted into their “Clef”. Students will even have a little extra to purchase special treats at the Dulcet Sounds Sweets Shop!
Students are invited to attend three classes on this magical afternoon:
- Professor Fonda Laughlin’s Potion Class will teach students the secret formula to creating a perfect pitch! Through mixing magical solutions, students will practically play to perfection!!
- Students in Professor Trev Wignall’s Magical Music Class will come face to face with a fascinating instruments that forgo the familiar and focus on fantastic means of making magical music!
- Professor Meris Robinson’s Defence Against the Dark Arts Class will introduce the true power behind the conductor’s wand. Students will learn the gestures and words that give them the power to lead other musicians like a sorcerer’s apprentice!
All costumes are welcome! While the activities are planned for students age 7 – 12, younger students can still have fun with adult help. Older students may still enjoy the theme (and we are interested in teen students who would like to help serve as Clef (House) Leaders! Interested parties, please email Melissa at [email protected]!). CHSMA’s Halloween party strives to be friendly (not scary) for all students.
Please let us know if you or your child plans to attend. We want to make sure we have plenty of goodies to go around. Click this link to register.
