Musical Theatre Training


Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts offers specialized training for musical theatre students. 

SPECIALIZED PRIVATE VOCAL INSTRUCTION: (45-minute and 60-minute lessons)

Chapel Hill School of musical arts is proud to offer private vocal instruction specifically designed for students wishing to learn and master the vocal techniques, repertoire, styles and communication skills which are unique to the musical theatre genre. Highly-qualified and experienced instructors guide students of all levels toward their personal goals, ranging from the beginner to the pre-professional college-bound singer.

Whether the goal is to have fun or to find their professional career, CHSMA provides excellent vocal instruction that makes a significant difference in our student’s lives.

The Summer Musical Theater Intensive:

The SMTI is a fully-produced musical directed by seasoned theater and music professionals and presented in a local venue with full production values for a public audience. Prior to starting rehearsals, students take part in a combination of classes exploring the musical’s subject matter and form, it’s music period and style, and other related theatrical skills. They are also encouraged to shadow our professional directors and crew to gain experience with set construction, lighting, sound, props, costuming and more.

The Broadway in Concert Series: 

Offering CHSMA students and others expanded opportunities to learn and sing complete roles from popular musicals, our BIC series is a unique educational experience which fits nicely into a student’s busy life. With primary focus on the music and a minimal amount of dialog and staging, two casts of students rehearse on Sundays for 5 weeks and offer two performances for the public the final weekend.

The CHSMA Holiday Performance:

New this year, CHSMA will produce a holiday-themed presentation that combines a theatrical element with additional seasonal music, and benefits a local charity.  This is a wonderful opportunity for learning, growth and an elevated performance experience. Performances, which are open to the public, are a delightful way to enjoy the season with family and friends.
